Some changes are coming soon to my shops. Both I Game on Linux! and Dumasaphobia. I have gotten tired of my lack of control. Tired of the over pricing by using third party printing services. Tired of the company I use breaking my links to products or removing them without warning.
I’m not sure of how I want to go about it, but I’m debating on either changing providers for printing my designs on demand, or doing it myself.
I am currently learning how to produce my own shirts, stickers, hats and other collectibles. I’ve been producing my own products and testing them in public. Simplifying my designs and starting small and seeing where it goes.
It’s nice being able to create art and also commission artists to get the images I need, but my sales suffer because of cost and lack of control. I’ve invested money on basic tools to do this all myself. I am lucky if I sell a handful of shirts in a years time. Then I get emails saying I have to jump through hoops of flame to keep my presence. Screw all that. I’d like to do this by myself and on my terms. But until I can get traction, I don’t have a lot of free time as I work 45 – 55 hours a week and my free time is not always my own.
