Happy About My House

Happy About My HouseMy job has me going all over.  Lots of apartments and houses that have been cut into apartments.  I’ve lived in my share of those dwellings.  I don’t miss the noise, having to listen to the arguments and drama from the neighbors.  The obnoxious cars, kids screaming up and down the hallways and parking lots.

The smoke.  Oh my freaking God the smoke.  The chain smoking, the legalized pot and other dumb shit.  The smells of people who eat the most awful things crowding my air space.  Since I quit smoking I can’t take bad smells.  I can’t even deal with incense.  Makes my stomach turn.

I get to come home to a clean, and good smelling home.  The yard is clean and tidy.  Grass is cut and the sun shines in beautifully!  Love when all my curtains are open.  It’s mine and it makes me happy even though it’s not yet looking the way I want.  This will keep me busy and comfortable for what’s left of my time in this world.

The only thing I hate, is spending 5-6 days a week working 10-12 hour days and not enjoying what I pay for.  But that’s a work problem.  Not my house.  Upside it affords me to save and fix it up 😀

New Hobby – Cricut

Cricut Explore 3LIke playing drums, guitar, refurbishing my house, learning Linux and playing all my favorite games wasn’t enough…  Now I’ve decided to invest fully into and learn how to use Cricut devices.  Thus, I can make my own shirts, mugs, hats, vinyl decals and stickers.  Let me explain why.

So you likely know if you’ve been here before.  I sell such things promoting my love of Linux and Gaming.  As well as my fear of stupid people.  Honestly I only make enough money to get a free shirt once a year.  It’s not a money maker.  Never was.  It’s cool and it gets me all sorts of conversation and fun reactions 😀

Then I made some hoodies.  Then I decided to buy one.  It’s over $65 before my $5 profit.  The biggest profit item I have.  Others are $2.  For $65 this should be a very high quality item.  Even if the zipper and tie string is white while the hoodie is black.  Odd, but OK.

I buy one on sale for $57.  Yeah I had to buy it too.  Just like anyone else.  I get this thing and immediately let down.  It’s insanely thin and kind of small for an XL.  It fits and it’s soft.  But snug.  Not like any of my other XL hoodies.  They are less expensive (like less than $20) and are heavier duty.  This is like a thick t-shirt with long sleeves and a hood.  The printing is not nearly as good as the shirts I sell.  I sincerely over paid for this.  I won’t be surprised if I don’t sell any others using the third party printer I’ve chosen.

Plus I really wanted to get some die-cut stickers made for I Game on Linux!  New business cards for Geeks Den.  Vinyl decals  for my car.  Then I realized I can do all this myself if I get and learn a Cricut.  So that’s what I’m starting to do.

So good things are coming soon!

Dear Gen Z

Dear Gen ZDear Gen Z,

I’m sorry.

I’m sorry I work 45-50 plus hours a week for less than $15 per hour.

I’m sorry I own my own home.

I’m sorry I have all my bills paid.

I’m sorry I own a good car.

I’m sorry I have good credit.

I’m sorry I have money in my bank account.

I’m sorry I have no problems buying groceries.

I’m sorry that I can do all of that as a single person in 2024.

I’m sorry the world makes your lives so hard.

I’m sorry that all you can do about your situation is cry on Tik-Tok with your $1000 smart phone.

But maybe. Just maybe. Move out of the big city where everything is stupid expensive.

I agree with Matt.  Life is work.  Stop complaining.  Just saying.

Soloing in WoW Again

Mount HuntingI keep saying I’m done with World of Warcraft.  I keep emailing Blizzard that I want to no longer deal with skill and class changes.  That I’m fed up with costly expansions and collectibles with extended subscriptions.  Then I find myself bored with grinding in Elder Scrolls Online.  Even though I still find ESO far superior to WoW, I can’t stop wanting that charm I once had.  Plus I love collecting mounts and achievements.  So I sign up again and BAM!  I’m back at it.

I even spent money on the extended subscription plans, expansions that include all the bells and whistles and boosting all my toons to level 70.  It’s a good thing I have a good job so I can afford all this crap 😂

I keep hoping someday I’ll finally drop Invincible…  Someday…

It’s a good thing I can do all this on Linux 🐧

Hell I think all my games play better on Linux than they ever did before I made the switch!

My New House

No Comments on My New House

My HouseSo late last year I finally bought a house of my own.  By myself.  Just little old me.  In years past when I was with someone, it wasn’t the same feeling as it is now having a home all to myself.  To be honest it’s a weird feeling.  It’s not like renting an apartment alone.  This is mine and mine alone.

Complete freedom to do as I wish.  No one else to consult about decisions.  Certainly not from lack of others around me giving me their advice whether I want it or not 😠  The feelings I have about it are refreshing to be sure, yet unfamiliar.  I really don’t plan on doing much with the outside of the house.  But the interior is basically going to be completely changed in one fashion or another.  This was a rental and many things are slap together patches or inventions.  I have plans to reverse the shoddy work and make it look contemporary.

Bathroom will get new toilet and replace the tub/shower combo with a large shower.  Replace mirror with medicine cabinet.  New sink and counter.  (not currently pictured)

Kitchen will get new appliances (already replaced the refrigerator).  The cabinets will be painted or replaced with new.  New sink.  Paint or change wall board and paint the walls.

Need to put in a new furnace and hot water heater.  Shock my well.  See if my septic needs work.

The over all color scheme will be satin white walls.  Silver carpets (standard in living room and bedrooms), Berber in dining room and entry way.  As well as the music studio.  Linoleum with a silver/gray pattern in the kitchen.  Unless I can find the same flooring that’s in the bathroom.  That would be cool.  It’s a gray wood laminate.  Ceilings and window frames will all be dark gray (matching the curtains) with white ceiling fans.  None will have lights except the dining room.

Major work will be the replacement of the exterior doors.  I want a classy front door and remove the screen door so it can be not look ghetto from the street.

The breezeway will have the sliding glass doors removed and replaced with just walls.  No windows in that room to help with sound dampening.  Being a drummer is loud.  Interior sliding glass door will be replaced with a wall and door.

There’s a metric ton of work to be done and it’s gonna take years.  Even longer if these damned cold days never end.  Why did I move back to the land of ice and snow?  I freaking hate snow and cold weather.  I don’t motivate will in the winter.  I digress.

I’ll make new posts with pictures as I get things moving along 📸
